The meet opened at 2pm on Thursday and people gradually began to arrive from all over the central region. By Friday night 45 units had arrived and set up for the weekend ahead.

Saturday morning Trevor Sheasby organised the peg draw

for the fishing competition and set off with the other seven

competitors for a 9am start.

The Central Counties members went off to The Blue Lias for its Regional meeting and the CDA Committee and its trusty helpers set about erecting the party tents, cooking bacon rolls for the fishermen and setting up for the tea and coffee breaks for the CC members.

At 10.30am the bacon rolls were delivered to the fishermen and at 12.30pm the  first coffee break was taken.

At 2pm the final whistle was blown and the fishermen’s catches were weighed in. The following results were recorded:

    Peg 1:  Mr. Thornton                     Catch weight:  1lb

    Peg 2:  Mr. Cannavan                   Catch weight:        7oz

    Peg 3:  Mr. Price                           Catch weight:  2lb 8oz

    Peg 4:  Mr. Hamond                      Catch weight:  not weighed

    Peg 5:  Mr. Jones                          Catch weight:  2lb 4oz

    Peg 6:  Mr. Franklin                       Catch weight  not weighed

    Peg 8:  Mr. Rappitt                        Catch weight:  14lb

    Peg 9:  Mr. Sheasby                      Catch weight:        8oz


Mr. Rappitt won the fishermen's prize of £8 for the heaviest catch and the CDA Trophy.for the heaviest overall catch for this year.

At approximately 3.30pm the second coffee break was taken by the meeting attendees and the committee and their helpers cleared away and went about setting up for the evenings entertainment.


At 7.30pm everyone arrived, decorated their tables in the “Sky Blue” theme and enjoyed the “Hot Buffet”, quiz and raffle.

The owner of The Blue Lias walked around the room without being noticed and decided on the best decorated table.

The winners being Nottingham DA.

The tired revelers retired for the evening at 11 p.m.


Sunday at 11 am everyone met at the party tents for coffee morning and this years fishing competition winner was presented with a trophy to keep and the trophy which is passed to each subsequent winner:

Phil Henson Central Counties Chairman took the floor to say thank you to Coventry DA for hosting the meet.


Although the weather had been mixed, everyone said how much they had enjoyed the weekend.

the meets would not be so successful.
